General Skilled Migration

The General Skilled Migration program is aimed at highly skilled workers (Subclass 189, Subclass 190, Subclass 491)

If you are a skilled person with qualifications, work experience and good communication in English; utilise your attributes to migrate to Australia. We can assist you in assessing which visa subclass you qualify for, and further help you in lodging and preparing the application.

Basic Eligibility

Basic eligibilty varies based on the visa class you are applying for,

 

TYPEBASIC ELIGIBILITY
Skilled Independent Visa – Subclass 189

(Points Tested Stream)

  • have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
  • be invited to apply for this visa
  • satisfy the points test
Skilled Independent Visa – Subclass 189

(New Zealand Stream)

  • hold a New Zealand Special Category (subclass 444) visa
  • have usually resided in Australia for at least the last 5 years
  • have started living here on or before 19 February 2016
  • in most cases, have a taxable incomeat or above a specific income threshold for each of the four completed income years prior to lodging an application
Skilled Nominated Visa – Subclass 190
  • Be invited to apply
  • Be nominated
  • Have a relavent skills assessment
  • Be under 45 years
  • Be able to score 65 points or more
  • Meet the skills, health and character requirement.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa – Subclass 491
  • be nominated to apply by a state or territory government agency, or an eligible relative must sponsor you
  • have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list
  • have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
  • be invited to apply
  • satisfy the points test
Temporary Graduate Visa – Sublass 485 
  • be under 50 years of age
  • hold an eligible visa
  • have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course

What you can do

This visa allows you to:

  • stay in Australia for the period that aligns with the activities that you have been approved to undertake on this visa. The maximum stay periods allowed are:
  • do work or activity specified in your application
  • enter and leave Australia as many times as you want while your visa is valid.

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs. It lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily.

Usually up to 18 months. Hong Kong passport holders may stay for 5 years

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. It lets you live, work and study in Australia, temporarily.
