BSMQ State Nomination Program
What is New?
Queensland has recently opened its skilled program ( Queensland state sponsorship ) for one week. Now you can apply for 491 visa and 190 visa nomination application to Queensland.
What are Requirements? (Skilled visa Program)
Please note that BSMQ program or in simple terms Queensland state sponsorship has limited number of seats, so they are not going to give nomination to all occupations. Queensland has mentioned that they will give nominations to those applications whom they think they are most important in their fight against Covid-19.
Basic Requirements for skilled visa Nominations
You can also apply if you are working in the following
1 in medical services, or
2 in maintaining the supply of essential goods and services, or
3 in delivering services in sectors critical to Australia’s economic recovery OR
4 your occupation in the following list

Priority Processing Requirements
Subclass 190
If you are applying for subclass 190 visa then must have worked in your nominated occupation for 6 months and you also must have 12 months full-time job offer with your employer. (you must have worked full-time (35 hours per week) and must have full work rights )
Subclass 491 Skilled Regional Visa
If you are applying for subclass 491 visa or regional visa then you must have worked in your nominated occupation for 3 months in regional Queensland and you must also have 12 months full time job offer in regional Queensland.

SUBCLASS 491 SBO (SMALL BUSINESS PATHWAY)
If you are using 491 small business pathway, you don’t need any experience in your nominated occupation. However, there are some other criteria you have to meet.
Other Requirements
You must be onshore while applying for above mentioned skilled visa. That means if your living outside Australia you are not eligible to apply for state nomination.
How to Apply?
You must lodge a new EOI with skill select. If you have already lodged EOI, you cannot apply for state nomination. Your EOI must be lodged on or after 29-Sep-2020. Then you need to send an email to migration@qld.gov.au. In the email, you need to explain that how you meet the Department of home affairs Critical skills and sector Direction. Your email must also include your full name, date of birth and EOI number.
After sending email, wait for the invitation from Queensland. If they invite you, you need to upload all the documents within 24 hours. If you do not provide all documents within 24 hour period you will not be able to apply.
Note
Do not make any payment until BSMQ invite you to make the formal nomination application. BSMQ will not answer any query regarding your application.
Business Program
BSMQ also has business programme under which both onshore and offshore applicants can apply
With limited allocations, BSMQ will only nominate:
- high-quality applications related to the COVID-19 economic recovery, or
- businesses that focus on productive investment and job creation, or
- businesses that have a regional investment focus within the business program.
- Priority processing for:
– Subclass 132 – Significant Business History stream
– Subclass 188 – Business Innovation stream
– Subclass 188 – Significant Investor stream
– Subclass 188 – Entrepreneur stream
How to Apply?
